Door

To all intents and purposes, it was a normal door to a normal room. But the greenish-purple glow emanating from beneath it suggested that whatever was the other side perhaps wasn’t normal. Emily took a deep breath, put her right hand on the doorknob and slowly twisted it, pulling gently towards her.

As the door opened the light became brighter, making her squint. Through half-closed eyes, she could just make out a small, podgy looking creature with pointy ears and a big, bulbous chin bathed in green-purple light looking up at her from the floor.

“Hello” said Emily. “Who are you?”
